Tapster at
t’s a good feeling to be creative with your life – to start with nothing and to build up from there. This is like being a Tapster. I started my bar in the summer of 1997. The name Gloria is great. It sounds like a lady and is a bit old-fashioned, but it’s deceiving. It’s a classic bar now – ‘classica’. It’s dim and cosy. The vibe is like being in your living room – a place with no attitude where you can be yourself. Pilsner Urquell have a really good story – they live it. They are a museum to beer but also very relevant and new, I like this juxtaposition. Pilsner Urquell is family, it’s personal, it’s not a big brand. When I went to Plzeň, it was a lesson in thankfulness. I was very sceptical about brands, but it blew me away. It is one of the great lessons of my life.
If you were a beer, what beer would you be?
I’d be a classic Pils lager from a small brewery – crafted and handmade. It would be authentic and loved by those in the know.
