The beer we serve at Pilsner Urquell Tankovna bars is fresh and unpasteurised, delivered from our brewery within 48 hours. In the Czech Republic it’s traditional to take home some of this fresh beer to enjoy with friends and family.
Just about every Czech beer lover has their own pitcher made of clay, wood or glass, which they carry down to their nearest Tankovna bar. The Tapster fills and tops it with an extra thick head of dense, wet foam so the beer stays fresh on the walk home. This pitcher is often passed down through generations, and no respectable beer-loving family goes without one.
The process is simple: take the pitcher to the nearest Tankovna bar and ask the Tapster to fill it up. You should know how many litres your pitcher holds, so the Tapster can pour the golden lager directly instead of measuring out each glass. But there’s no rush, so why not have a Šnyt while you’re waiting?
No matter what the pitcher is made of, and no matter whether it’s new or old, there’s no better way to enjoy the rich, refreshing flavour of unpasteurised Pilsner Urquell at home.
