It’s no secret that Prague has some of the best pubs in the world, but if you’ve only visited the historic centre, you’re missing out on a few great places to enjoy crisp, fresh Pilsner Urquell and deliciously authentic Czech food.
Hajnovka is a stand-out pub and restaurant that pours some of the best beer in the city. It’s a little off the tourist route, but that just means you’re in for a more local experience when you visit.
Hajnovka’s beer comes fresh from the tank and it’s always poured just right, which has made it one of the most popular pubs in the area, with faithful regulars who crowd the tables, especially the special Štamgast tables located closest to the taps. Hajnovka also boasts a unique curved bar that puts the Tapster front and centre. It’s the first thing you’ll see when you walk in and it’s hard to take your eyes off the Tapster at work as he cools glasses in the large water tub and pours flawless Hladinkas every time.
Besides the great beer, Hajnovka also serves some of the most satisfying recipes of Czech cuisine. All the dishes are hearty and delicious, from the beef goulash to the confit duck leg. And of course, they all pair perfectly with the crisp, hoppy flavour of Pilsner Urquell.
You don’t have to be a local to enjoy the food and beer at Hajnovka, you’ve just got to appreciate the original golden lager poured the way it was meant to be.
